Užice's air quality reflects the Đetinja river valley in the western Serbian highlands, with vehicle traffic on the A2 motorway and surrounding manufacturing and energy operations contributing local sources. Winter residential wood and coal burning generates elevated PM2.5 under valley temperature inversions, while the surrounding Zlatibor and Tara mountain ridgelines create significant topographic enclosure that concentrates heating and vehicle emissions during extended winter anticyclonic periods throughout the heating season.
