Zemun's air quality reflects its position on the Danube-Sava confluence opposite Belgrade, with vehicle traffic on the E70 and the Zemun Pan industrial zone contributing elevated PM2.5 alongside residential wood burning during winter. The Danube river corridor provides ventilation on northerly and westerly winds, while the flat Pannonian Zemun field to the northwest and the Fruška Gora ridgeline to the north create topographic variation and winter temperature inversions concentrate heating and vehicle emissions across the low-lying Zemun-Belgrade metropolitan area.
