We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains our practices in connection with information that we collect through the App, Websites and Services. By downloading, accessing or using the App, Websites or Services, or providing information to us in connection with the App, Websites or Services, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

Some features described in this Privacy Policy may depend on the version of the App you are using and may be introduced gradually.

1 Information we collect from you

When you log in to the App

If you log in to the App, we store the username and password according to your selected way of login. If you use a third-party login (like Google or Apple), we may receive information about you from the login provider. Passwords are stored securely and are not readable by Airmine. You are free to use a fictional username when you use the App. Login data collected, including third-party login data (e.g., name, email) will only be used for authentication and not for other purposes unless explicitly stated.

When you activate location services in the App

The Services include features that require the collection of specific location data. We use this to give you pollen risk information for areas near you.

We only collect this type of data when you activate a location feature. We store your location if you log entries in the diary. We stop collecting this type of data when you deactivate the feature. You can choose at any time to deactivate location services.

When you select region and language in the App

We store the region you choose in the App, and use this to show you the corresponding pollen information. We store which language you choose to use in the App.

When you add favourites in the App

We use these locations to give you information about the pollen risk in a specific area. We store the locations in our databases. If you remove a favourite location in the App, we delete it.

When you search for locations in the App

We store the location for your five most recent searches. We use this to show you your recent search history in the App.

When you fill out surveys

We store the information you provide in surveys. Unless consent is explicitly given, this information is not linked to individual users. It is up to you if you want to fill in surveys.

When you enter your feelings in the diary in the App

We store the information you provide for the diary. If you have activated location services, we store your location when you log in the diary. We use the location information to fetch pollen risk values at your location and show you in the diary.

You can choose not to use the diary or to not activate location services. To use the diary and its related functions, you must accept Airmine’s use of health data, please see our Health Data Policy. We will store your consent in our databases and you can withdraw the consent at any time in the App (see App manual for details).

We store the species you select to be notified about. You can choose to get notifications or not use this feature.

When you download information from the App

We store the information you download as a file on your mobile device.

When you buy a subscription in the App

We use verified and trusted e-commerce payment providers to handle all financial transactions, such as the Apple App Store or Google Play. The only personal information shared with us is for administrative purposes, such as country and date of a given transaction. We do not receive payment card details or other full payment credentials. We may receive limited transaction metadata from the app store providers, such as country, date, subscription status, and transaction history, for administrative and support purposes.

When you integrate with Strava from our App

Our Airmine Pollen App offers integration with the Strava platform, to let you see pollen levels for your activities in Strava. This integration allows you to connect your Strava account to upload our pollen risk forecasts to activities in your Strava account.

  • Your public Strava profile information; user id and country (if specified),
  • Your Strava activity data (we collect route coordinates),
  • Strava user identifiers and authentication tokens.

We do not store your Strava activities after we have finished processing the pollen information for the activities. We do not access your historical activities.

Purpose of data use:

This data is used solely for the following purposes:

  • Enabling the connection between your Strava account and our App
  • Uploading pollen level information to your Strava activities

Data sharing:

We share the above data only with Strava as part of the integration. We do not share your Strava data with any other third parties. All data transmissions between our App, Services, and Strava are encrypted and handled securely.

User control:

You can revoke the integration between our services (Airmine Pollen) to your Strava account at any time by managing authorized apps within your Strava account settings. Upon disconnection, we will no longer have access to your Strava account or activities and we will delete all data related to the integration.

Other data collected in the App

We collect information about your device, such as timezone, language, IP address, device type, the date when you accepted the Privacy Policy and the App version.

We store a user ID (UID) for each user. This is a technical ID not relating to any personal information. If you buy a subscription, we also store an ID connected to your subscription. 9 Health data

The Airmine Pollen App allows users to log allergy symptoms, which may be considered sensitive health data under data protection laws. We only collect and process such data with your explicit, informed consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the app settings. Health data is used for app functionality and, with user consent, also to improve our pollen forecast and to support symptom analysis at an aggregated level.

For full details, please see our Health Data Policy.

10 Children and age-restricted features

These controls are being rolled out and may not yet be available in all regions or app versions.

Certain features of our Services, including the symptom diary and in-app subscriptions, are available only to users who are eligible to access age-restricted features under app store platform rules and applicable law.

How we determine eligibility

To determine eligibility for age-restricted features, we rely exclusively on the age-category signals provided by the device’s app store platform — including Apple’s Declared Age Range API (Apple App Store) and Google Play’s age-signal API (Google Play), where supported.

We do not independently verify users’ ages, do not collect date-of-birth information, and do not infer age from any other data we collect.

Where the platform signals that an account is classified as a minor, requires parental consent, or is a supervised child account under Apple Family Sharing or Google Family Link, the symptom diary and paid subscriptions are automatically disabled for that account.

On devices, operating systems, or app store environments where no platform age-category signal is available or supported, age-restricted controls may not be available and the App may continue to provide full functionality.

Data we store

We store the age-category status as reported by the platform (for example, whether an account is classified as supervised, a minor account, or age-verified for adult access), the date the signal was received, and the platform that provided it.

We do not receive or store a user’s date of birth.

This data is stored on Google Firebase in EU regions, with international transfers governed by the safeguards described in Section 3.

The age-category status is retained for the lifetime of the user account and is deleted when the account is deleted, in accordance with Section 8.

Handling of accounts flagged as minors

Where an account is flagged as a minor by the platform signal:

  • the symptom diary cannot be opened, and no diary entries are stored;
  • in-app subscriptions are disabled, and no payment metadata is collected;
  • we minimise the collection of other personal data from such accounts to what is strictly necessary to operate the access-control mechanism, provide support, and prevent abuse;
  • we do not use data from minor-flagged accounts for personalisation, analytics, advertising, or profiling.

Lawful basis (EU/EEA/UK)

For users in the EU, EEA, and UK, the lawful basis for processing the age-category signal is our legal obligation to comply with applicable minor-protection laws (GDPR Article 6(1)(c)) and our legitimate interest in preventing unauthorised access to age-restricted features by minors (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). No special-category data is processed for this purpose.

Parental rights

Parents or legal guardians who believe their child has used the App may contact us at support@airmine.ai to request information about, or deletion of, any data associated with their child’s account. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law, including the parental access and deletion rights provided under the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent provisions of GDPR and other jurisdictions.

Compliance scope

We use the age-category determination solely to restrict access to age-restricted features and to support compliance with applicable laws, including but not limited to:

  • GDPR Article 8 and equivalent EU/EEA member-state provisions on children’s consent;
  • the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (ICO Children’s Code) and the UK Online Safety Act 2023;
  • Article 28 of the EU Digital Services Act (protection of minors on online platforms);
  • the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA);
  • the Utah Minor Online Protection Act, the California Age-Appropriate Design Code Act (CAADCA, to the extent in force and applicable), the Connecticut minor-protection amendments, the New York Child Data Protection Act, the Maryland Kids Code, the Texas SCOPE Act, and similar laws in other U.S. states and jurisdictions.

We do not use age-category determinations for advertising, marketing, or profiling.

We do not use personal data for targeted or cross-context behavioural advertising, we do not sell or share personal data, and we do not profile users for decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects. This applies globally, regardless of jurisdiction.

11 Changes to the privacy policy

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. If we make material changes in the Privacy Policy, we will provide notice to you by digital means, for example an in-app message. You can always delete your account or stop using our Services if you do not accept the change.

12 Important note

The Airmine Pollen App is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat allergies. Always consult a healthcare professional for medical advice.
