In Triana, seasonal heating smoke in winter and light construction dust play the biggest role locally. Air quality is generally moderate, dictated mostly by how much traffic reaches the old core. The narrow historic streets can trap vehicle fumes that would otherwise disperse quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is air quality bad in Triana right now?
On 9 August 2026, overall air quality in Triana is fair. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 30.0/100. Pollution peaks around 2:00 AM (O3: 30.0/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Triana?
On 10 August 2026, air quality conditions in Triana will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at fair at 35.5/100. Pollution peaks around 4:00 PM (O3: 35.5/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Triana?
What is the yearly air quality pattern like in Triana? Winter tends to bring the year's weakest readings, as stagnant, cold air lets heating smoke and vehicle emissions build up rather than clear away. Spring is typically when conditions begin improving, as increasing wind speeds help disperse traffic emissions before they can accumulate. Hot, dry summer conditions favour ozone formation, so afternoon readings can rise even when traffic and heating pollution are otherwise low. Autumn typically starts mild and can still see occasional ozone or dust episodes before rain and cooler temperatures gradually restore cleaner conditions. The region's intense heat and its exposure to Saharan dust crossing the Strait mean conditions here can swing sharply from the seasonal norm.
Are air quality levels in Triana based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
