Gaustatoppen 10k climbs the dramatic Gaustatoppen mountain in Telemark from Rjukan, where birch, alpine grasses, and crowberry are the main pollen sources in this dramatic mountain setting. The enclosed Vestfjorddalen valley below concentrates pollen under calm conditions, while birch peaks through May on the lower slopes, alpine grasses contribute through June and July at higher elevations, and the elevated setting compresses the season significantly throughout.
