Lying in the valley leading east from Bergen towards Voss, Vaksdal opens the pollen season with hazel and alder from February before birch peaks through April and May. Grass from surrounding farmland peaks through June and July before mugwort extends exposure into September. The enclosed Raundalen and Veafjord valley setting concentrates pollen under calm conditions, while the very wet Bergen-area Atlantic climate provides very frequent rainfall interruptions throughout.
