Drammen's air quality reflects the Drammenselva river valley in the Numedal fjord system southwest of Oslo, with vehicle traffic on the E18 and the surrounding paper manufacturing and port operations contributing local sources. The valley's topographic enclosure can concentrate vehicle and industrial emissions under winter inversions, while the Oslofjord's maritime ventilation provides regular cleansing of the fjord valley corridor on most days.
