Svelgen is a small Vestland village in Kinn municipality on the Svelgen fjord arm of Nordfjord where birch, alder, and fjordside woodland are the main local pollen sources. The fjord position means onshore winds can periodically disperse pollen, while the very wet Atlantic western Norwegian climate provides very frequent rainfall interruptions and birch peaks through April and May before grass from surrounding Kinn farmland contributes through June and July throughout.
