Skjærhalden is a small Østfold coastal village in Hvaler municipality on the outermost Oslofjord island archipelago where birch, hazel, and coastal scrubland are the main local pollen sources. The Oslofjord outer island position means onshore winds can frequently disperse pollen, while the mild coastal Østfold climate advances the season slightly and birch peaks through April and May before grass contributes through June and July and mugwort extends into September.
