Sand in Innlandet is a small village in Rendalen municipality in the Østerdalen valley where birch, hazel, and boreal valley woodland are the main local pollen sources. The inland continental Østerdalen climate produces a well-defined seasonal progression with birch peaking through April and May before grass contributes through June and July and mugwort extends into September. The surrounding boreal forest means birch is a particularly dominant local spring pollen source throughout.
