Mosjøen is a small Nordland town in Vefsn municipality at the head of the Vefsnfjord where birch, alder, and fjord valley woodland are the main local pollen sources. The enclosed fjord head valley concentrates pollen under calm conditions, while the subarctic Atlantic climate provides regular rainfall interruptions and birch peaks through May before grass from surrounding Vefsn farmland contributes through June and July throughout this Nordland regional centre.
