Midtbygda is a small Trøndelag community in Røros municipality at high altitude on the Røros Plateau where birch, willow, and mountain grassland are the main local pollen sources. The cold subarctic highland setting significantly delays the season, with birch peaking through May and June before grass contributes through July. The elevated continental climate compresses the season more than almost any other Trøndelag community throughout.

Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.

Are pollen levels in Midtbygda based on measurements or forecasts?

Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.

Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Midtbygda, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
