Local Environmental Conditions
The nearest creek or river hosts river oak, among the most allergenic wind-pollinated trees found on watercourses, in the surrounding area. Here, not far from here, woodland where eucalypt stands alongside wattle, the latter especially aggressive as an allergen when in full flower. This area, just around the area, has maintained parkland where turf grass and ornamental plane trees add to the local pollen mix.
River oak near the water opens the pollen calendar early, topping out well before most other trees start releasing pollen, around July and August. As spring approaches, eucalypt and wattle in the nearby woodland become the dominant source, peaking as wattle comes into full flower, generally August into September. As spring turns to summer, grass pollen rises toward its November high, before gradually tapering off through the peak of summer into February.
