This South West Slopes orcharding town's air quality reflects its horticultural surrounds, with seasonal spray drift and dust from cherry orchards and grazing land, alongside typical inland winter temperature inversions that can trap wood-heater smoke on cold, still nights. Spring cherry blossom season, celebrated locally each year, adds a distinctive horticultural pollen contribution on top of the wattle and grass pollen typical of the wider South West Slopes region, while dust from harvest operations later in the season adds a further seasonal contributor to local air quality.
