Cobar, deep in the semi-arid mulga country of far western NSW, has a much shorter and more irregular pollen season than the state's coastal and tableland districts. Native trees and shrubs, including acacia and eucalypt species, flower opportunistically after rain rather than on a fixed spring schedule, while grass pollen from sparse pasture is patchy and depends heavily on preceding rainfall. When conditions align, spring remains the most likely peak, but Cobar's dry climate keeps overall pollen loads lower than wetter parts of NSW.
