Rumia's air quality reflects the Trójmiejska suburban corridor in the Pomeranian metropolitan area north of Gdańsk, with vehicle traffic on the S6 expressway and surrounding manufacturing and residential character contributing local sources. Baltic westerlies from the Gulf of Gdańsk generally provide maritime ventilation, while the flat Pomeranian plain allows reasonable dispersal and Rumia generally maintains moderate Polish coastal metropolitan urban air quality levels throughout most of the year.
