Gdańsk's pollen season runs from February through August, opening with hazel and alder in late winter before birch peaks strongly through April and May. Grass pollen peaks through June and July. The Baltic Sea coastal position means onshore winds can periodically disperse pollen, while surrounding Pomeranian woodland and farmland contribute substantial tree and grass pollen. The maritime climate provides more frequent rainfall interruptions than in inland Polish cities.
