Local Environmental Conditions
The area around the heart of Lublin is mostly built-up land, with a good deal of woodland. With the Bystrzyca River nearby, riverside trees such as poplar along its banks contribute to the local mix. Of the allergenic trees nearby, maple matters most, while poplar also contributes. Grasses and weeds such as pigweed and plantain round out the local mix.
Maple and poplar lead the season in mid-spring, as temperatures climb to around 10°C, and tree pollen reaches its peak. Grass pollen follows, peaking in early summer and easing off by late summer. The season closes with pigweed and plantain from midsummer into mid-fall. Summer is the wettest time of year, and heavy showers can bring short breaks in pollen.

Does pollen in Lublin come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Lublin based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Lublin, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
