Førde's air quality reflects the inner Sunnfjord valley position in Western Norway, with vehicle traffic on the E39 and surrounding regional administrative and services operations contributing local sources. The Jølstravatnet lake and the Sunnfjord valley provide ventilation corridors, while the surrounding Sunnfjord and Jotunheimen highland ridgelines create topographic variation and the relatively low industrial density generally maintains moderate to good conditions throughout most of the year.
