Výronas' air quality reflects the southeastern Athens metropolitan basin adjacent to the Hymettus mountain, with vehicle traffic on the surrounding Athenian ring roads and the dense urban residential and commercial character generating elevated NOₓ under the enclosed Attica basin's persistent temperature inversions. The Hymettus ridge provides the most direct topographic variation and some cleaner air on easterly winds, while the Attica basin's enclosed geometry concentrates all metropolitan emissions across this southeastern Athens district throughout the year.
