Maroúsi's air quality reflects the northern Athens metropolitan basin position adjacent to the Olympic complex, with vehicle traffic on the surrounding Attica motorway and the dense residential and commercial character generating elevated NOₓ under the enclosed Attica basin's persistent temperature inversions. The Penteli mountain to the northeast provides topographic backdrop, while the Olympic park's green spaces provide limited local buffering against the broader metropolitan pollution.
