Chalándri's air quality reflects its position in the northern Athens metropolitan basin, with vehicle traffic on the Attica motorway and the surrounding affluent residential and commercial character generating elevated NOₓ under the enclosed Attica basin's persistent temperature inversions. The Pendeli and Hymettus mountains provide topographic backdrop, while the Attica basin's characteristic concentration of all metropolitan emissions affects Chalándri despite its relatively green northern suburban character.
