Agrínio's air quality reflects the Acheloos-Agrínio basin in western Greece, with vehicle traffic on the surrounding road network and the surrounding tobacco, agricultural, and light manufacturing operations contributing local sources. Winter residential wood and coal burning generates elevated PM2.5, while the surrounding Aetolian mountains create partial topographic enclosure and the Trichonida and Lysimachia lake complex provides some regional moisture and ventilation throughout the year.
