South of Perth along the coast, Secret Harbour is a newer residential suburb that benefits from the same steady sea breezes that ventilate much of the metropolitan coastline, keeping its air quality generally very good. Low humidity and dry summers reflect the region's Mediterranean climate, with little industrial activity given the largely residential character of the area. The main seasonal risk comes each summer, December through March, when bushfire smoke from bushland further inland or south can occasionally reduce air quality for short periods. Outside fire season, onshore winds off the Indian Ocean keep the suburb's air reliably clean.
