Grassland dominates the land around Ladybrand once you're past the eucalyptus- and acacia-lined streets near the centre, with maize, sunflower, and grain farming operations shaping much of what lies further out. The seasonal grass pollen surge each summer draws directly on this surrounding open plateau vegetation. This pattern holds true across most of the surrounding Highveld plateau.
