Local Environmental Conditions
River oak crowds the water's edge here, a well-known contributor to local casuarina pollen counts, a short distance from here. Here, in the wider area, eucalypt dominating the treeline with wattle scattered through it, both contributing to the season's pollen load. This area, in the surrounding area, has parkland with regularly mown grass and planted plane trees, both sources of seasonal pollen.
The bank's river oak kicks off the pollen season ahead of the rest, topping out well before most other trees start releasing pollen, around July and August. Eucalypt and wattle in the nearby woodland follow through late winter and early spring, reaching its high point through August and into October. As spring turns to summer, grass pollen rises toward its November high, before staying elevated through the summer months into late January.
