Local Environmental Conditions
The country around Port Pirie is characterised by saltbush and chenopod shrubland typical of upper Spencer Gulf, with mangrove-fringed mudflats along parts of the coast. As a long-established industrial port town, much of the immediate area is developed or disturbed, with native shrubland vegetation more prominent on the surrounding plains than within the town itself.
