Joondalup Resort's Quarry and Dunes courses are built through a former limestone quarry and coastal dune landscape in Perth's northern suburbs, where banksia woodland and heath vegetation have been retained and incorporated around the fairways. This gives the course a distinctive native bushland character compared with more traditional parkland-style layouts, reflecting the sandy, dune-formed ground typical of the northern Swan Coastal Plain.
Carved around a former limestone quarry and its dune country, Joondalup Resort's Quarry/Dune Course sits in Perth's northern suburbs, where the same August-to-November season applies: introduced and native tree species around the quarry rim shed pollen first, from August into September, before grasses colonising the dune slopes and fairway margins take over through October and November. Once summer's dry heat sets in, pollen output collapses quickly, giving this dramatic course a short, sharp allergy season.
