Local Environmental Conditions
Nyngan sits on the Bogan River at the edge of the arid outback, where mulga scrub and saltbush or chenopod shrubland replace the eucalypt forests of wetter NSW. Sparse native grasses cover the open plains, while river red gum follows the Bogan River through town, offering the main significant tree pollen source. Cropping occurs where irrigation allows.
