Local Environmental Conditions
Around 63% of the area near the center of Mount Fox is woodland, with a good deal of open grassland. With a watercourse close by, riverside vegetation contributes to the local mix. Locally, the woodland makes trees an important source; open grassland adds grass and weed pollen. Grasses along roadsides, verges and open ground also add to the overall pollen load.
With warm weather all year, between about 20°C and 25°C, pollen is present in most months rather than in one short season. Levels tend to be highest in drier spells, especially around September. During the rainy season, frequent heavy downpours wash much of the pollen out of the air. Warm, damp weather through summer also raises mold spore levels.

A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Mount Fox based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Mount Fox, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
