Local Environmental Conditions
Located just outside the immediate area, this area has river oak crowds the water's edge here, a well-known contributor to local casuarina pollen counts. Here, near this part of town, woodland where eucalypt stands alongside wattle, the latter especially aggressive as an allergen when in full flower. A green space of mown lawn and planted plane trees, both feeding into local pollen counts, close to this spot.
The bank's river oak kicks off the pollen season ahead of the rest, arriving ahead of the rest of the season, cresting around mid-winter. Woodland eucalypt and wattle pick up the pace next, through late winter into spring, cresting around August and September in the year's sharpest tree-pollen spike. Grass pollen takes over next, building to a peak around November, with levels staying elevated into the new year before finally easing off.
