Local Environmental Conditions
Joondalup sits on Perth's northern coastal plain amid Banksia woodland on deep sandy soils, one of the characteristic plant communities of the Swan Coastal Plain; surrounding suburban development retains bushland reserves of banksia, jarrah and marri alongside planted street trees. As is typical for the south-west and south, wattle flowering through winter gives way to a spring grass pollen peak that eases once the region's dry summer sets in.
