Local Environmental Conditions
Inverloch, on Victoria's Bass Coast, combines coastal heath and banksia woodland along its dunes with coastal tea-tree scrub fringing the foreshore. Grazing pasture covers the cleared hinterland behind the town. Remnant eucalypt woodland occurs on higher ground further inland. The exposed, breezy coastal position keeps native heath and tea-tree flowering prominent, while pasture grass provides the main contribution from surrounding farmland, a fairly typical South Gippsland coastal-town profile.
Inverloch's coastal Gippsland setting gives it a milder temperate pollen season than inland Victoria, with sea breezes moderating counts even during the spring peak.
