Local Environmental Conditions
The center of Douglas-Daly is heavily wooded. With a watercourse close by, riverside vegetation contributes to the local mix. So much tree cover makes trees an important source of pollen locally. There is plenty of grass pollen here too. Grasses along roadsides, verges and open ground also add to the overall pollen load.
With warm weather all year, between about 25°C and 30°C, pollen is present in most months rather than in one short season. Levels tend to be highest in drier spells, especially around July. During the rainy season, frequent heavy downpours wash much of the pollen out of the air. In warm, humid weather from early summer into mid-fall, mold spores add to the mix, especially after rain.

Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Douglas-Daly based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Douglas-Daly, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
