Miami's Coral Gables air quality benefits from the City Beautiful tree-lined boulevard neighbourhood adjacent to the University of Miami, with consistent Atlantic and Biscayne Bay sea breezes providing reliable background ventilation. Vehicle traffic on Miracle Mile and US-1 contribute local sources, while the extensive mature tree canopy and the residential character provide natural filtration and Coral Gables generally maintains among Miami's more moderate inner suburban environments throughout most of the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is air quality bad in Coral Gables right now?
On 18 July 2026, overall air quality in Coral Gables is very poor. AQI is the main air quality indicator at 81.8/100. Pollution peaks around 11:00 PM (PM10: 81.8/100).
Will air quality be worse tomorrow in Coral Gables?
On 19 July 2026, air quality conditions in Coral Gables will be similar to today, with AQI forecast at very poor at 85.3/100. Pollution peaks around 12:00 AM (PM10: 85.3/100).
When is air pollution at its worst in Coral Gables?
Coral Gables follows Miami's typical seasonal air quality pattern. Typically, the wetter summer months often see cleaner air, as frequent afternoon storms wash pollution out quickly, while dry-season wildfire and prescribed-burn smoke, mainly from late autumn through spring, is the main seasonal concern. Sea breezes help disperse pollution on most days, though smoke from inland fires can still drift into populated areas.
Are air quality levels in Coral Gables based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
