Real Club de Tenis Barcelona's air quality is shaped mostly by crowd-related vehicle idling and parking and access-road emissions. Levels spike briefly before and after major events, then return to background quickly. Traffic converging on the venue is by far the biggest local air-quality factor on event days.

When is air pollution at its worst in Real Club de Tenis Barcelona?
What time of year has the cleanest air in Real Club de Tenis Barcelona? Air quality often reaches its yearly low in the depths of winter, when still, cold air holds local emissions from traffic and heating close to ground level. Spring is typically a transitional season, as milder, windier weather starts clearing out the pollutants that accumulate during winter's calm spells. The heat of summer drives up ozone formation, and dry conditions occasionally bring smoke from regional wildfires into the mix. Early autumn can still bring warm, stagnant spells before the season's returning rain and wind begin clearing the air. The Mediterranean coast's sea breezes generally help disperse pollution, though summer tourism traffic and occasional Saharan dust can still push levels up.
Are air quality levels in Real Club de Tenis Barcelona based on measurements or forecasts?
It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere. Airmine’s services were developed with support from the European Space Agency (ESA)’s Business Applications and Space Solutions (BASS) team.
Why doesn’t the forecast always reflect wildfire impacts?
Airmine’s forecast uses CAMS (Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service) as its background atmospheric model. While CAMS includes wildfire emissions, these are derived from satellite observations and are not available in real time. During rapidly evolving wildfire events, there may therefore be a delay before increased emissions are incorporated into the model. As a result, the forecast may temporarily underestimate PM₂.₅ and other pollutants associated with wildfire smoke.
During rapidly evolving wildfire events, CAMS may lag by approximately 1–2 days before increased wildfire emissions are fully represented, which can lead to temporary underestimation of PM₂.₅ concentrations in Airmine’s forecast.
