Moita's air quality reflects its position on the southern Tagus estuary bank opposite Lisbon in the Setúbal peninsula industrial corridor, with vehicle traffic on the A2 motorway and the Setubal industrial zone's steel and chemical operations contributing elevated industrial PM2.5. The Tagus estuary provides Atlantic ventilation, while the prevailing northwesterly winds generally carry Lisbon's urban emissions southward toward the Moita-Barreiro shoreline and the industrial corridor maintains elevated readings above the surrounding rural Setúbal background.
