Renowned for wine and forest as much as coastline, Margaret River generally enjoys some of the cleanest air in the state, thanks to consistent breezes rolling in off the Indian and Southern Oceans. Low humidity and dry summers typify the region's Mediterranean climate, with little in the way of industrial or urban pollution sources. The main seasonal risk is bushfire smoke, which can affect the area between December and March given the extensive surrounding forest and karri woodland. Vineyard and agricultural activity adds only minor dust locally. Outside fire season, air quality here is consistently excellent, matching the region's clean reputation.

Are air quality levels in Margaret River based on measurements or forecasts?

It is forecasts derived by downscaling forecasts provided by EU’s Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by taking into account local conditions such as traffic patterns. CAMS bases its forecast on satellite measurements of particles and chemical compounds in the atmosphere.
