Local Environmental Conditions
Around 50% of the area near the center of Val Verde is open grassland, with a good deal of scrubland and some built-up land. A nearby park adds mown lawns and planted trees to the local pollen mix. Common allergenic trees nearby include oak and willow. Grass pollen is significant here, and pigweed and mugwort contribute weed pollen.
Tree pollen peaks in mid-spring, when the weather warms to around 15°C and oak and willow are in full flower. Grasses take over in late spring, with temperatures around 20°C, and their pollen lingers into early fall. The season closes with pigweed and mugwort from early summer into early fall. Rain is heaviest in winter, often giving short breaks from high pollen levels.

Does pollen in Val Verde come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Val Verde based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Val Verde, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
