Local Environmental Conditions
The area around the heart of Rosemount is a mix of woodland and built-up land, plus a good deal of open grassland. The allergenic tree mix nearby includes oak, maple and poplar. Beyond the trees, grasses matter a great deal, and ragweed and mugwort are the main weed sources. In the built-up parts of the area, street trees, gardens and park lawns add to the local mix.
Oak, maple and poplar lead the season in late spring, as temperatures climb to around 15°C, and tree pollen reaches its peak. Grasses take over in early summer, with temperatures around 20°C, and their pollen lingers into early fall. Ragweed and mugwort bring a final peak from late summer into mid-fall. Summer is the wettest time of year, and heavy showers can bring short breaks in pollen.

Does pollen in Rosemount come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Rosemount based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Rosemount, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
