Hazel and willow by the water are typically first out of the gate, leading off the pollen calendar, with a peak generally falling in late winter. The area's oak and birch trees pollinate through mid-to-late spring, cresting around April and May in the year's sharpest tree-pollen spike. As spring turns to summer, grass pollen rises toward its June high, with ragweed then rising to the fore from mid-August through October.
