Local Environmental Conditions
Charter Oak Country Club is heavily wooded, with some open grassland. Allergenic trees nearby include maple, oak and birch. Grasses are a major source, with mugwort adding to the weed pollen load. Roadside verges and patches of open ground provide further room for grasses and weeds. Clearings, tracks and woodland edges let grasses and other flowering plants grow among the trees.
Maple, oak and birch lead the season in mid-spring, as temperatures climb to around 10°C, and tree pollen reaches its peak. Grasses take over in early summer, with temperatures around 20°C, and their pollen lingers into early fall. Mugwort brings a final peak from midsummer into early fall. By late fall, pollen levels are low again.

Does pollen in Charter Oak Country Club come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Charter Oak Country Club based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Charter Oak Country Club, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
