Local Environmental Conditions
Most of the area around the center of Celebration is woodland, with some built-up land and open grassland. A nearby park adds mown lawns and planted trees to the local pollen mix. Allergenic trees nearby include oak and maple. Grasses are also a significant pollen source here. Street trees, private gardens and mown lawns add to local pollen in the more built-up surroundings.
Oak and maple lead the season in early spring, as temperatures climb to around 20°C, and tree pollen reaches its peak. Then come the grasses, strongest in early spring and fading by mid-fall. Weeds on open ground add a smaller late peak from early summer into early fall. In warm, humid weather from midsummer into early winter, mold spores add to the mix, especially after rain.

Does pollen in Celebration come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Celebration based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Celebration, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
