Local Environmental Conditions
Around 40% of the area near the heart of Coín is woodland, with a good deal of built-up land and some open grassland. Juniper and oak are among the allergenic trees nearby. Grass pollen is a substantial part of the local mix as well. Street trees, private gardens and mown lawns add to local pollen in the more built-up surroundings.
Tree pollen peaks in late winter, when the weather warms to around 15°C and juniper and oak are in full flower. Grasses take over in late spring, with temperatures around 20°C, and their pollen lingers into early fall. A smaller weed peak follows from early summer into early fall. Rain is heaviest in spring, often giving short breaks from high pollen levels.

Does pollen in Coín come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Coín based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Coín, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
