Otta is a small Innlandet town in Sel municipality at the confluence of the Otta and Gudbrandsdalslågen rivers where birch, hazel, and valley farmland vegetation are the main local pollen sources. The Gudbrandsdalen valley concentrates pollen under calm conditions, while the inland continental climate produces a well-defined seasonal progression with birch peaking through April and May before grass contributes through June and July and mugwort extends into September.
