Irecê commands the Bahia central cerrado-caatinga Chapada Diamantina approaches as a bean and agricultural hub, where native caatinga scrub, cerrado trees, and introduced urban trees are the main pollen sources. The semi-arid climate produces a compressed wet season from November to March, while the long dry season concentrates pollen production and the elevated plateau creates more variable conditions than the lowland caatinga throughout.
