Salvador's tropical coastal setting produces a near year-round pollen season, with coconut palm, mango, and native Atlantic Forest species contributing through winter and spring. Grass pollen from urban open spaces contributes throughout the year, while the wet season from April to June brings the most frequent rainfall interruptions. Onshore trade winds from the southeast regularly disperse pollen across the coastal city throughout the year.

A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation.
