Local Environmental Conditions
A waterway lined with river oak, a wind-pollinated species and one of the more potent allergen sources along Australian creeks and rivers, in the surrounding area. Located near this part of town, this area has eucalypt and wattle growing together, with wattle's fine pollen especially potent during its short flowering window.
The bank's river oak kicks off the pollen season ahead of the rest, getting an early start, typically cresting between July and August. The woodland's eucalypt and wattle trees become the main pollen source as wattle flowers, reaching maximum intensity across the August-September window. As spring turns to summer, grass pollen rises toward its November high, before continuing at a lower but still notable level through January and February.

Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.

Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in South Bunbury, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.

The 0–100 scores represent risk levels, not direct measurements of pollen or air pollutant concentrations. Higher scores indicate higher risk. Pollen and air quality use different thresholds.
