Local Environmental Conditions
Magenta Shores sits on the Central Coast near Toukley and The Entrance, where coastal lake and lagoon systems meet Tasman Sea dunes. Banksia, coastal eucalypt woodland and ti-tree scrub typical of the Central Coast's wallum country surround the course, with the nearby lake systems adding paperbark and casuarina to the landscape framing this seaside layout.
Further south toward the Central Coast, Magenta Shores sees the Hunter region's grass pollen climb from October through December across its fairways and surrounds, on the back of an eucalypt and wattle season that opens in August. Being slightly removed from Newcastle's immediate port and harbour influence, the course still benefits from Tasman sea breezes dispersing pollen, though the spring thunderstorm pattern linked to asthma risk across the temperate coast applies here just as much as in the city itself.
