Local Environmental Conditions
This part of Nap Nap Marra is heavily wooded, with some open grassland. Close to running water, riverside vegetation contributes to what is in the air. Trees are an important local pollen source, given how much woodland surrounds the area. Grasses add a sizeable share of the local pollen. Roadside verges and patches of open ground provide further room for grasses and weeds.
Tree pollen comes first, peaking in mid-spring. Grasses take over in early summer and keep pollen in the air into late summer. A smaller weed peak follows from early summer into early fall. Rain is heaviest in spring, often giving short breaks from high pollen levels. By early winter, as temperatures fall to around 5°C, pollen levels are low again.

Does pollen in Nap Nap Marra come from nearby or far away?
Studies show that most pollen exposure (often 70–90%) comes from nearby sources, such as local trees and vegetation. A good pollen forecast therefore depends on accurately representing local vegetation. Pollen can travel long distances, but this usually matters only early in the season or during specific wind events.
Are pollen levels in Nap Nap Marra based on measurements or forecasts?
Pollen data is often misunderstood. Most "pollen levels" are not real-time measurements, but forecasts.
Direct pollen measurements are typically delayed by 1-2 days because they require manual analysis. To show current conditions in Nap Nap Marra, modern forecasts combine recent measurements, weather data, and information about local vegetation.
This allows us to estimate pollen levels for today and the coming days, not just report the past.
